what is the khl

The KHL was born out of 20 clubs from the old Russian Superleague but includes clubs from Latvia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and now Slovakia with the addition of HC Lev.

Phillipo is right, no wage cap AND it's tax free wages

And reckoned to be the second best league in the world, after the NHL

Is there an actual ranking, a co-efficient, of ice hockey leagues? Always wondered what the top 10 or so are.

Gabriel Desjardins (Journalist) did a study on this 4 years ago and came to this conclusion.  First was the NHL, followed by:

1. Russian Elite League
2. Czech Republic League
3. Swedish Elite League
4. Finland SM-LIGA
5. AHL/IHL
6. Switzerland National League
7. Deutsche Eishockey League
8. NCAA

This was based on players coming out of these leagues and making the NHL who were born from 1960-1980.  I can't imagine that there is much of a change when you look at it like this.  Apart from the RSL becoming the KHL and the IHL being a shadow of it's former self.

Really happy with Dean signing. We have a very solid netminding duo. Both can 'deliver the goods', if called upon on any given night.

Welcome back Deano !!

Chris Allen joins Telford Tigers.
Seems that telford are really showing their intentions with some of their signings. i think they may be a surprise this season.

He's friends from Tommy Watkins from his time at Coventry and his wife is from Solihull where he is now based. It's a logical move for him personally but ultimately a shame that one of the highest scoring defencemen in the history of the OHL is playing EPL at 32 when he could easily do a job at EIHL level

maybe he doesn't want the commitment that EIHL demands and just wants to play hockey for fun.

You may well be right but that doesn't detract from the fact I personally feel he's playing well below his level.

Not convinced he'll be the big impact player expected of his stature.
Often playing down to a lower league sees a players standards drop.
It'll be interesting to see how he fares.
